The First Act Limited Edition Volkswagen Garage Master is a promotional electric guitar released during a special 3-month holiday campaign at the end of 2006 to promote VW's 2007 model lineup. Rather than being sold in retail stores, it was given away to customers who purchased a new Volkswagen vehicle. The white body configuration with a black pickguard was explicitly color-matched to the exterior paint of the specific black VW car it was bundled with.
The Volkswagen Integration
The defining feature of the Garage Master is its ability to plug directly into the 1/4" auxiliary input jack of a compatible Volkswagen car stereo system, allowing the vehicle to function as the guitar's amplifier.
- VIN Plate: Each guitar features a metal plate stamped on the back of the headstock with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that directly matches the buyer's car. [
- Onboard Preamp: Because car auxiliary inputs require a line-level signal, First Act integrated a 9V battery-powered analog modeling preamp (derived from their V-Stack technology) to boost the output.
- VW Branding: The guitar features an oversized mother-of-pearl VW logo inlay at the 12th fret, custom VW-branded control knobs, and a blue LED indicator light that illuminates when the built-in distortion circuit is activated.
